Title: Craig & Fred Pdf A Marine, A Stray Dog, and How They Rescued Each Other

The uplifting and unforgettable true story of a US Marine, the stray dog he met on an Afghan battlefield, and how they saved each other and now travel America together, "spreading the message of stubborn positivity."In 2010, Sergeant Craig Grossi was doing intelligence work for Marine RECON—the most elite fighters in the Corps—in a remote part of Afghanistan. While on patrol, he spotted a young dog "with a big goofy head and little legs" who didn’t seem vicious or run in a pack like most strays they’d encountered. After eating a piece of beef jerky Craig offered—against military regulations—the dog began to follow him. "Looks like you made a friend," another Marine yelled. Grossi heard, "Looks like a 'Fred.'" The name stuck, and a beautiful, life-changing friendship was forged.Fred not only stole Craig’s heart; he won over the RECON fighters, who helped Craig smuggle the dog into heavily fortified Camp Leatherneck in a duffel bag—risking jail and Fred’s life. With the help of a crew of DHL workers, a sympathetic vet, and a military dog handler, Fred eventually made it to Craig’s family in Virginia. Months later, when Craig returned to the U.S., it was Fred’s turn to save the wounded Marine from Post-Traumatic Stress. Today, Craig and Fred are touching lives nationwide, from a swampy campground in a Louisiana State Park to the streets of Portland, Oregon, and everywhere in between. A poignant and inspiring tale of hope, resilience, and optimism, with a timeless message at its heart—"it is not what happens to us that matters, but how we respond to it"—Craig & Fred is a shining example of the power of love to transform our hearts and our lives.

They needed each other Another great read, this marine had a lot to worry about yet he made time for the dog. I finished this book in one night, I just couldn't put it down and to think this is a true story. He needed the dog and the dog needed him.Not Just About A Man and His Dog I went to high school with Craig Grossi. This true story is fatastic and wonderful. It proves that you can find a friend the strangest of places. Thank you for awnsering the call from Uncle Sam. Oooh-rah.Beyond Fabulous! After watching Craig and Fred interviewed on FOX4 in Dallas, my girlfriend and I made plans to go meet these two at a Barnes & Noble book signing event in Southlake, TX. I’m so glad we did! Craig is a very friendly and personable guy, someone I’d love to have a beer with! Fred is…well, he is a lovable fur ball, and mostly snoozed under the table, but I think he enjoyed getting his ears scratched. My only regret is that I hadn’t read the book Craig & Fred before I met them. That meeting would have meant so much more to me.Now that I have read the book, I can not say enough good things about it…there are not enough positive adjectives to describe it. Craig is an excellent writer! I especially enjoyed the layout of chapters…each alternated with what Craig and Fred were dealing with in Afghanistan with their life afterwards in the US. Occasionally Craig left his readers hanging, for example, not finishing a gut wrenching description of a mission before jumping to the next chapter of events back home. His descriptions of Fred’s immense influence on him during his deployment, and his journey through recovery afterward were a joy to read. Not the least in importance was Craig’s dogged determination to get Fred out of Afghanistan and into the United States. I commend him for not giving up, but the reader will learn that is Craig’s modus operandi for life. Finally, I am a Vietnam Veteran (Navy…blue water). I’ve read many books about that war to better understand what was happening in country. Craig’s personal accounts of his missions and firefights in Afghanistan will greatly help non-veterans and non-combat veterans gain tremendous insight into what our men and women deal with in that battle torn country. For example, the horror of IEDs will now be understood.Thank you Craig and Fred. You’ve given a tremendous gift to your readers.

FBI Agent Atlee Pine returns to her Georgia hometown to reopen the investigation of her twin sister's abduction, only to encounter a serial killer beginning a reign of terror, in this pause-resisting thriller from number one New York Times best-selling author David Baldacci.

FBI Agent Atlee Pine's life was never the same after her twin sister Mercy was kidnapped - and likely killed - 30 years ago. After a lifetime of torturous uncertainty, Atlee's unresolved anger finally gets the better of her on the job, and she finds she has to deal with the demons of her past if she wants to remain with the FBI.

Atlee and her assistant Carol Blum head back to Atlee's rural hometown in Georgia to see what they can uncover about the traumatic night Mercy was taken and Pine was almost killed. But soon after Atlee begins her investigation, a local woman is found ritualistically murdered, her face covered with a wedding veil - and the first killing is quickly followed by a second bizarre murder.

Atlee is determined to continue her search for answers, but now she must also set her sights on finding a potential serial killer before another victim is claimed. But in a small town full of secrets - some of which could answer the questions that have plagued Atlee her entire life - digging deeper into the past could be more dangerous than she realizes....

Atlee Pine FBI Agent - role model for girls. Atlee Pine has become one of my favourite action figures. I love the way she “kicks butt” and has a mysterious past.Enjoyed the tale, can’t wait for her next instalment.Three and a half stars

Title: Dear America Pdf Notes of an Undocumented Citizen

THE NATIONAL BESTSELLER

“This riveting, courageous memoir ought to be mandatory reading for every American.”  Michelle Alexander, New York Times bestselling author of The New Jim Crow

“l cried reading this book, realizing more fully what my parents endured.” —Amy Tan, New York Times bestselling author of The Joy Luck Club and Where the Past Begins

“This book couldn’t be more timely and more necessary.”Dave Eggers, New York Times bestselling author of What Is the What and The Monk of Mokha

Pulitzer-Prize winning journalist Jose Antonio Vargas, called “the most famous undocumented immigrant in America,” tackles one of the defining issues of our time in this explosive and deeply personal call to arms.

“This is not a book about the politics of immigration. This book––at its core––is not about immigration at all. This book is about homelessness, not in a traditional sense, but in the unsettled, unmoored psychological state that undocumented immigrants like myself find ourselves in. This book is about lying and being forced to lie to get by; about passing as an American and as a contributing citizen; about families, keeping them together, and having to make new ones when you can’t. This book is about constantly hiding from the government and, in the process, hiding from ourselves. This book is about what it means to not have a home.

After 25 years of living illegally in a country that does not consider me one of its own, this book is the closest thing I have to freedom.”

—Jose Antonio Vargas, from Dear America

Who deserves citizenship? Why are immigrants of color criminalized? Reading this wonderful series of essays by Jose Antonio Vargas was eye-opening and particularly relevant to me. I'm a librarian at a high school where I believe a number of our students are undocumented. One of my former students, a student who was student body president his senior year, was detained when his undocumented status was notice as he was on the Dean's list at the University of Washington. Who would have known that Homeland Security uses dean's lists to find undocumented citizens. He was taken to a detention center and on track to be deported to a country he hadn't seen since he was 2. Fortunately people stood up for him and he remained in the US. Reading this essay memoir helped me realize even more fully the trials he must have faced. This was a lovely young man who I remember always helping other students. It is obvious that Jose is also this kind of person. So many of our undocumented immigrants embrace American ideals much more fully than many who take this privilege for granted. If you want to know what a true American Citizen is like read this book. Jose should be automatically naturalized because of this book. He is a man who is dedicated to making life better for others and isn't that what America is all about. We need to tell Trump that undocumented immigrants are one thing that makes America great and because of this we owe them our respect and help. Thank you Jose for this wonderful book.
